"Small is Beautiful"
-- E.F. Schumacher
I founded Vehko Architecture in 2002 as a sole proprietorship dedicated to residential work, including the design of new houses, additions and/or remodels to existing houses, and restoration/rehabilitation of historic and older homes. As an independent professional, I give comprehensive individual attention to all my projects, building customized teams of consultants tailored to the specific and unique needs of each client.
I believe that good buildings occur as the result of limitations. Every project is restricted by what the client needs, what can reasonably be built (in terms of materials, codes, and basic physics), and how much money there is to pay for it. When these three things are skillfully integrated into a design, architectural excellence follows as a natural result.
I obtained my Texas architect's license in March of 2002. Prior to licensure, I worked with a variety of architectural firms offering a broad range of services, including the Texas Historical Commission's Main Street Program, Page Southerland Page Architects, and Heimsath Architects.
I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Texas College of Fine Arts and my Master of Architecture degree from the University of Texas School of Architecture.
If you are considering an architectural project in the future, I would be delighted to provide services for any aspect, from preliminary planning to post-contruction inspection.
